How old were you and how did you come to be diagnosed?

I was diagnosed in October 2015 at the age of 53. There were no signs or symptoms, it was a complete shock!

What would be your one piece of advice for others starting this journey?

Talk to people, seek help from professionals, family, friends and breast cancer support groups such as Crazy Hats. The support is there to see you through this journey.

What type of surgery did you have? What were your first thoughts?

Lumpectomy and removal of lymph nodes. Will I survive this and live to see my children grow up?

What is the best thing to come out of diagnosis?

Early diagnosis leads to successful treatment and recovery.

For the first time in my life, I focussed on me to think about improving my physical and mental wellbeing and took positive steps to achieve it.

Who or what couldn’t you do without during treatment?

Health professionals, family and friends.

Describe yourself in three words.

Survivor, perfectionist, patient.

Biggest achievement to date?

Weight loss of 2.5 stone with Slimming World and being voted Diamond member of the year for 2018.

Getting involved in this calendar!
